Solos Launches First Smart Glasses with GPT-4o Integration

The latest in wearable technology attempts to bring smart glasses into the age of AI.

Solos Technology (Hong Kong), a company specializing in smart glasses and wearable technology, has officially launched the AirGo Vision™ (AirGo V), the first smart glasses with OpenAI’s GPT-4o integration.

Powered by AI, the glasses can recognize people, objects, and landmarks and provide navigational assistance. Hands-free functionality allows users to capture photos or receive activity summaries, which the company claims can support everyday tasks such as cooking, shopping, or home improvement.

The onboard OpenAI GPT-4o framework supports multimodal AI processing, including imaging, with further compatibility offered by Anthropic’s Claude and Google Gemini. The glasses also include text translation capabilities, allowing users to translate written language in real-time.

Built-in speakers are also included, along with an LED notification light to enhance usability in various environments, while touch controls allow for volume adjustments. The glasses provide up to 10 hours of music playback on a single USB-C charge.

The AirGo Vision is designed with user control in mind. Customizable frames and a removable camera allow users to adapt the glasses to their preferences and privacy requirements.

“One thing we promised to deliver on was allowing consumers to have control of their experience with AI and smart technology, particularly with privacy options in mind,” said Kenneth Fan, cofounder of Solos. “That’s why we developed frames that can easily be changed to decide when and where a camera may be appropriate without sacrificing any of the fun features.”

The AirGo Vision is available in two frame styles: the squarer Krypton 1 and the slimmer Krypton 2. Additional Argon and Xeon Frame Fronts are sold separately for further customization.

The glasses are priced at $249 for the model without a camera, aligning with the cost of the entry-level Ray-Ban Meta model.

Shipping for pre-orders is set to begin on December 23, 2024.
