Bausch + Lomb Launches Arise Orthokeratology Lens System in the United States

Bausch + Lomb has branded Arise as a faster, smarter and seamless ortho-k lens fitting system.

On March 17, 2025, Bausch + Lomb (Ontario, Canada) announced the US launch of Arise, a cloud-based orthokeratology lens fitting system designed to streamline the process of orthokeratology lens design. The system integrates directly with corneal topographers to generate precise lens designs in seconds.

“Traditional orthokeratology lens fitting methods can be complex and time-consuming,” said Yang Yang, president of Global Vision Care at Bausch + Lomb, in a news release. “The Arise platform’s streamlined fitting process will reduce chair time and increase efficiency for eye care professionals.”

Bausch + Lomb announces the news on its LinkedIn page.

Orthokeratology, commonly known as ortho-k, is a non-surgical procedure that uses specialized contact lenses to temporarily reshape the cornea, reducing myopia during a patient’s sleeping hours.

What makes Arise different?

The Arise system features the first orthokeratology lens design with toric peripheral curves approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for overnight myopia treatment.

Arise is designed for practitioners of all experience levels, utilizing advanced algorithms to analyze corneal topography images and recommend lens designs without the need for a fitting set.

The system also includes an overnight outcome map library to track lens centration and patient progress, allowing for efficient adjustments when necessary. The cloud-based platform provides secure access to patient data and offers direct support from Bausch + Lomb’s expert consultation team.

“Arise combines all aspects of the orthokeratology process—from topography capture to lens design and more—into one seamless, user-friendly technology,” said Dr. Brooke Messer of Vance Thompson Vision in West Fargo, North Dakota. “The ease and precision of Arise will be a welcome addition to my practice.”

Arise is now available in the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe. The system is part of Bausch + Lomb’s broader efforts to support eye care professionals in managing myopia, particularly in children, who are at increasing risk of developing high myopia and associated ocular complications.
